My Mountain View |
Mountain View and Stone County is certainly one of the places to visit in Arkansas. Located deep in the Ozarks surrounded by mountains and rivers, Mountain View and Stone County offer boundless outdoor activities including caverns and world class fishing. You can also explore the Ozark experience at the Ozark Folk Center or enjoy live music on the historic Courtsquare or browse through the local shops filled with one of a kind crafts and unique gifts.
Established in the 1870's, the town of Mountain View, AR is famous for the preservation of folkways and traditional folk music. Home of the Arkansas Folk Festival and the Ozark Folk Center State Park, music plays a vital part of the area's attractions and is the soul of the town. On weekends, from Mid-April through late November, musicians join locals and play music late into the night hours in the Courthouse square downdown. Mountain view is the "Folk Music Capital of the World". Having the opportunity to sit and listen to the locals play folk music is worth an overnight stay in Mountain View.
If an overnight vacation experience is what you seek, there are plenty of housing opportunities in Mountain View. From national and local motels to traditional Ozark Bed and Breakfast's (B&B), finding accomodations is not a problem. However, if your visit overlaps one of the many local festivals or special events in the area, reservations are recommended.
Even though you could spend an entire weekend in the historic downtown area of Mountain View Arkansas browsing the many music stores, antique shops, and craft centers, including Arkansas' largest craft cooperative, the Arkansas Crafts Guild, there is so much more to do in Stone County. A visit to the Blanchard Springs Caverns is a must see.
